For Birks

You got it! This is that cliche "Birkenstocks are the New Summer Sandal" post from your favorite wannabe blogger. I'm back, better than ever, and presumably wearing purple snakeskin Birkenstocks.
I imagine you guys (as in my small but ever-expanding fan base) have stumbled across some iteration of this discourse restating the awesomeness and comfort of the fugly shoes adorning my feet, but what's one more time– for good measure.

Prom Edition

Depending on where you live, prom is either on the horizon, receding from it or isn't too familiar with this Americanized cultural pastime culminating to the final days as a secondary schooler. It's fun, it's really sad and has potential to be costly.

Being amidst the full swing of prom season and having so casully been friends with upper-upperclassmen attending this coming of age event, the question of "what to wear to prom" has gained a top spot among modern day conversation starters only second to "Crazy weather we're having, eh?" and " I like your braces?" ( no joke, this actually happened to me today).

Unfortunately, I'm not going to prom so such outfitting won't yet be on my radar for another 363 days, but since it's soo much closer than the facts may suggest and I literally can't stand the thought of  procrastination on this firtuous occasion, I started planning ahead.

Good Thing Gone Bad

Have you ever done something remotely artistic and you're doing your thing all in the zone and you get to a point where you're like, "Yeah, this isn't so painful to look at". And then, you reach a choice: to add on or to not add on that extra squiggle, paint stoke or stitch. Ultimately, you do it. Followed by almost instant regret. There are no loop holes, neither do overs; you are, in fact, screwed.

Take that analogy and then apply it to my characteristically dysfunctional habits of dressing every morning for the past 16 years and 7 months. And then take that analogy and more directly apply it to the manifestation of this outfit here below.

I'm aware. I probably took it 6 steps too far, but what's done is done. Spare me though, and together let's pretend that I don't look too like to a hipster try-hard.

Girls Love Beyonce

Lemme' lemme' updrade ya'. And by "ya" I mean me, and by "me'" I mean this suuper simple outfit that is boring me to tears as we speak. In the deftly crafted Instagram gibberish of my fashion idol and most RIHcent CFDA style icon @badgalriri: this outfit, is basic.

But now I'm cross referencing two saintly vocal and style goddesses and even getting myself confused. The point is, this outfit can likely take two routes in the imminent and innate layering that is to follow. You might even characterize one outfit as more consistent with the fashions of Bey while the other more Rihannaesqe...

Just kidding that's a lie, these two women are ten times more fabulous than I'll ever be.

Updated & Outdated

Let's skip the the bullshit and get down to it. Today, it snowed. Might I add that it was just yesterday that I wore a pleather skirt with bare legs, my unshaven leg hairs blowing in the brazen high 68ยบ winds. Mother nature, why do you lie to me like that, why.

But, in lieu of the happy memories resurfacing of the grand times me, my bare legs and that $16.00 Zara navy crop sweater I scored last week in New York (woo-friggen-hoo), I have chosen to take the road less traveled. Yes, the road of optimistic and opportunistic avail. Which is why I have risen above and viewed this "delay" in advent of warmer months as only a minor setback, if even opportunity to wear a suit...of sorts.
